Bra Vo! Be a breast friend and make a difference!
20th February 2009
Two Rivers Shopping Centre has a very strange request for the ladies of Staines – they would like your unwanted bras!
This is not the result of a strange fetish that the shopping centre has developed, but part of a year long charity bra collection campaign to raise much needed funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Breakthrough Breast Cancer is the UK´s leading charity committed to fighting breast cancer through research, campaigning and education.
At the end of the campaign, bras will be weighed and £1 per kilo will be donated to Breakthrough Breast Cancer. All bras will then be exported to third world buyers to create viable overseas businesses enabling individuals to support their families.
Charlotte Fletcher, Centre Manager at Two Rivers commented: “I’m sure that during the campaign the community of Staines can pull together and ensure that Breakthrough Breast Cancer receives great support. Nearly 46,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK so funds are vital to support the wonderful work that they do.”
The campaign will be launched at Two Rivers by the Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Simon and Mrs Candy Bhadye, who will be donating a bra, Charlotte Fletcher and a representative from Breakthrough Breast Cancer on Wednesday 4th March at 11.00am.
The bright pink bra bank will be available at Two Rivers throughout 2009 and any clean wearable bras of any size will be greatly appreciated!
